Mounting fabrication technique
- Dry mounting, wet mounting, spray mounting
- Mounting with pressure sensitive films
- Time-saving mounting with self-adhesive foam boards
Dry mounting on standard foam board or acid-free grade
- It is recommended to use quality adhesives and to test the adhesive prior to lamination of precious artwork.
- Dry mounting with a heat press or heated vacuum press requires proper temperature range from 180F to 200F and residence time range from 1 to 2 minutes depending on the artwork type.
Wet mounting & spray mounting
- For perfect wet or spray mounting, it is necessary to laminate a counter-layer on the other side.
- According to manufacturer's instructions, adhesive should be applicable to both substrates and the artworks to be mounted.
- Coat or spray the board with a light and uniform dose of adhesive.
- Dry fully with a vacuum press or under weights.
Pressure sensitive mounting
- Double-sided pressure sensitive film is being used for advanced mounting by hand.
- For larger size of artwork, the adhesive film can be applied with roller laminators and completed by press equipment.
Self-adhesive foam boards for time-saving mounting
- To save time and get quality mounting, all needed is self-adhesive board itself.
- Peel the release paper and just position pictures or photos on the pressure sensitive adhesive liner by hand.
- For larger works of art, roller laminators can be used and vacuum process is used to make the lamination perfect.
